Snipes Key Sandbar
What Makes Snipes Sandbar Special
Snipes Point is the largest sandbar in the Lower Keys and one of the most iconic spots on the water. On busy weekends you’ll often see 200–300 boats gathered together, creating a laid-back floating party surrounded by crystal clear Gulf waters.
At mid-tide, the sandbar offers a huge stretch of waist-deep water, perfect for relaxing, tossing a football, floating with friends, or just soaking up the sun. As the tide drops, the magic really appears — a wide expanse of soft white sand emerges, giving you plenty of room to walk around, explore, and take in the incredible views.
Snipes is also home to one of the most photographed swings in the Florida Keys. Sitting right in the water, the famous swing has become a must-stop photo spot for visitors and locals alike.
Just off the edge of the sandbar, the bottom drops into small ledges and patches of hard bottom, making it a great place for a quick snorkel. Keep your eyes open — lobsters often tuck themselves under the ledges, along with small reef fish and other marine life.
Whether you want to float, explore, snorkel, or grab the perfect Keys photo, Snipes Point Sandbar delivers the classic sandbar experience.
